Details

AMTI's force-sensing treadmill uses an innovative tandem belt design that allows subjects to maintain a normal gait and eliminates many issues inherent to side-by-side, split-belt treadmills.

The rugged design and construction are built for the long run.

With an AMTI tandem treadmill, subjects can walk naturally with no need to maintain their positions medial-laterally or straddle the belt split that runs down the center of the treadmill. Heel strike occurs on the front belt and the foot naturally translates to the rear belt for toe off as the subject walks. With only a 1 mm clearance between the two belts, they function as one continuous belt while preventing the data problems that occur during the double support phase of walking.

Mounting Options include, above Floor Mount or Recessed Floor Mount. When recessed into the floor the handrails can be removed allowing the treadmill force platforms to be used as stationary force platforms.

Belts can be controlled synchronized or independently from each other. The Computer controls the belt speed and angle of inclination. The High-performance digital motor controllers provide smooth and reliable control.

Tandem belt design eliminates the requirement for the test subject to remain centered on the medial-lateral axis. The 14 mm diameter low profile rollers driving the belts and a 1 mm space between belts, makes two belts feel like one continuous belt.

The Tandem Belt design eliminates loss of data caused by “double support” during walking. In addition, the Low-mass composite sensing elements within the force plates are located near the belt surface.

The treadmill has a non-inclined height of only 11 inches with no protrusions on the sides or ends. The end-to-end treadmill can be used as two floor-mounted force plates when incorporated into a walkway with its handrails removed. Control electronics are built into the treadmill; force plate and control cables are the only connections required between the treadmill and the operator area.
