The Optimus Pressure Scanning System is a modular, high-accuracy data acquisition platform engineered specifically for aerodynamic and wind tunnel test environments. Designed to replace and expand upon legacy 8400 systems, Optimus integrates advanced pressure scanners—such as the ESP and MicroScanner series—with high-throughput digital interfaces and precise calibration hardware.
Pressure inputs are digitized locally within the Miniature Scanner Digitizing Interface (mSDI), then transmitted via fiber optic cable to the Optimus System Processor (OSP). The system supports up to 32 pressure scanners, or 2048 channels, and offers both binary and engineering unit data formats over Ethernet (TCP/UDP), with rates up to 1 Gbps.
Key components include:
-
OSP (System Processor): Rack-mount unit managing all data processing and external communications.
-
OFIU: Fiber optic interface units inside the OSP, enabling EMI-free connection to mSDI modules.
-
mSDI: Digitizes scanner inputs and distributes power. Each unit supports up to 8 scanners.
-
RPS (Remote Power Supply): Provides precise voltage regulation with excitation feedback.
-
PCU (Pressure Calibration Unit): Delivers high-accuracy calibration pressure across multiple ranges.
-
RP (Remote Processor): Interfaces PCU units and manages pneumatic backplanes.
